This painting, “Knows No Boundaries,” reflects the powerful connection between humanity and the natural world, portrayed through the eyes of biologist and wildlife photographer Maysa Santoro. Inspired by Maysa’s deep admiration for humpback whales, this piece captures the harmonious and unrestrained way in which nature transcends human-made boundaries.
Whales Know No Boundaries: In our conversations, Maysa expressed her awe of whales, especially their migratory journeys that span entire oceans. This magnificent species serves as a reminder that nature moves freely, uninhibited by the borders that humans create. In this painting, I focused on the whale’s tail, the part that propels it forward, symbolizing how nature continually moves without limits. It is a call for us to unite as a global community to appreciate and protect our shared planet.
Maysa’s Love of the Ocean Knows No Boundaries: Maysa shared that the ocean is where she feels most at home, a place where she explores depths that few humans will ever witness. Her passion for the ocean, her willingness to push humanity’s understanding of marine life, and her commitment to conservation all remind us that some loves know no boundaries.
