The Inspiration Behind this Painting
We had a 3 a.m. wake-up time to drive the van two hours and catch the first morning sunlight illuminating this view. If that doesn’t say commitment to Type 2 Fun, I don’t know what does. What struck me most about this view was the impossible question people often ask: Are you a mountain person or a beach person? In this vignette of volcanic black sand and towering mountains stretching out into the ocean, I had the overwhelming clarity that you don’t have to choose. Mama Earth placed both in precious corners of the world for us to experience. What a gift.
